Just to discuss things a bit though.... the gravestones have been out in the weather, where, many of these other stones have not.... I am assuming that will make a difference on the writings. I also live in an old house... and the stone work in the basement does need touching up, or it will decay to the point of being unable to live in the house... but... that is exposed to varying temps and humidity levels within my basement. But, in the upper part of my house, the amount of dust that settles on things will cause creatures, like small moths and mites to eat away at things, until they crumble, as I found out in a few places that I had things stored.
