Why does this lady have a fly on her head? | National Gallery

Great video, and amazing painting. The woman looks just like a friend of mine, she would think it was a horror if her portrait had a fly painted on her.... but I think it is very funny. The symbolism in the forget-me-not flower stem, and also replicated on her clothing, is very ancient..... love to all!
