No one knows what it is like to try to stop once they use, unless it happens to you, and everyone thinks they got it... and they are smart..... but addiction lies to the person through their thoughts, it is a psychological demon..... It will never make sense to someone that doesn't have an addiction, and to the addict it doesn't make sense, everyone believes they can trust their own thoughts, but.... the addiction makes a person lie to themselves..... I never knew until I tried to stop.... I could not believe at first what was going on and all those years I had been telling myself so many thoughts that were not true... Support groups like AA and NA have tools to free yourself of the addiction and those in the groups will teach you and call you on your lies that you try to tell others ... that come from the addiction.... it is like a body snatcher inside.... this is really difficult for loved ones, because they are talking to the person they know, but who is doing the talking back is the addiction, it is a demon..... There is also Al-Anon for loved ones of people with addictions and those groups are very helpful too..... they all are free and the people in them help each other because they have learned how to recognize the demon and how to help you rise above it..... that is what worked for me, and my life has never been better!
