How this $2.6 BILLION medication invented a disease

When Prozac was first out, one of the side effects was possible weight loss. I decided I needed to have it and went to the doctor and said I needed something for depression. (I found out about the side effect from a friend who did the same thing, and so did many other women I knew). So.... now I had depression in my medical history, which I did not understand at the time. Then, when I started taking it, I could not have orgasms, which was depressing, lol. (I was not depressed prior to taking it, and had no problems achieving orgasms). So I told the doctor, who told me it would go away..... Also, the dreams I had were crazy out of this world, and other sensations were not right. I became afraid to stop taking it, thinking what if I got worse, but finally just stopped, which is not recommended. I did not like this medication. I am also a nurse, and there are so many people who are elderly that are given this or other antidepressants in nursing homes, when I believe they are going through a natural process of losing some of their independence, not necessarily a mental illness. Also, I have kept my weight off with simple exercise and eating mostly healthy foods, but sometimes not. The weight fear was underneath a fear that I needed to deal with, not by taking a pill to lose weight. I don't know if people are willing to tell these things to people when there is such a huge misunderstanding, and profit involved. What is the answer? Have the government run pharmaceutical industry and make it all non-profit? The costs would definitely go down.
